Publication of LWL's CE Scheme in The Adult Learner

An evaluation of LWL's successful Community Employment (CE) Scheme has been published in national education journal ‘The Adult Learner’. Tess Murphy, CEO at Longford Women’s Link, says, ‘The evaluation shows that the critical analysis, creativity and responsiveness a women-centred approach brings to a complex problem such as unemployment, can have a significant local impact in developing employment opportunities for women despite a recession.

The evaluation shows that thirty-four women participated in LWL’s CE programme between 2006 and 2009. Of these, fourteen remained employed at LWL. Of the twenty women who had left LWL having completed their CE placement, fourteen (i.e. seventy percent) had secured some further form of employment (as of November, this number now stands at eighteen). Three others (i.e. fifteen percent) were under-taking further education through LWL (this number also now stands at eighteen).'
