Policy & Advocacy

A new Policy & Advocacy post is part of LWL’s recent organisational development. The position will ensure that an evidence-base is developed that validates LWL’s ‘integrated’ approach to supporting women.

The LWL model of service provision argues that there is no single, ‘one-off’ support or service that can meet the complex and inter-linked range of issues found in disadvantage and inequality. What is required to positively impact upon the lives of those most marginalised and vulnerable in our society, is this ‘joined up’, co-ordinated approach which supports women and their families both over time and across the different services they need.

The next step in bringing about positve changes for the groups we work with is to take the issues that arise in our day to day work and bring them to decision making arenas where policy and practice can be changed. We are focusing on the following key areas for this work

  • Increasing lone parent’s economic independence
  • Providing accessible quality community childcare
  • Establishing a safe environment for families experiencing domestic abuse
  • Highlighting issues facing migrant families
