Our core function is to support women to maximise their safety from violence and abuse in their own homes. We do this knowing that the wisdom and resilience of the women we work with is our main resource. We make sure we are up to date on relevant information and training to be the best support workers we can be, because women deserve nothing less.
We have a variety of experience between us including being able to work with women from migrant communities and one of us speaks fluent Russian and conversational Polish.
We are on the woman’s side. If she has children or people depending on her we do the best we can to support her to keep them safe also.
We can see the devastation caused by the crime of violence against women in their homes and understand how dangerous it can be for some.
We listen to the heartbreak of woman who once loved a man that now hurts her. We understand that some women may still love him and just want the abuse to stop. We will never try to make a woman leave if she doesn’t want to because we know she know best.
Our job is to give her a little breathing space to push out all the voices that tell her she is wrong, she’s the problem, she’s some how to blame. Our job is to make sure she has all the information she needs to make plans that will work for her. We will work by her side until she believes she is safe again.
